LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN: It is the largest residence of the head of a state (country) in the world. It is built in a combination of European and Indo-Sarcenic architecture. Rashtrapati Bhavan, is the home to the President of the world’s largest democracy, epitomizes India’s strength, its democratic traditions and secular character.
INDIA GATE: Understanding about Nationalist Movement, Architecture. In the center of New Delhi stands the 42 m high India Gate, an "Arc-de-Triomphe" like archway in the middle of a crossroad. It is a war memorial Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
LOTUS TEMPLE: There are many important facts that make the temple Unique. It is a Bahai place of worship which proclaims Unity of God, Unity of Religion and Unity of Humans. It is built of imported white marble and is in the shape of a Lotus flower with 27 petals. The ponds and the lush green garden altogether add to for a very pleasant ambiance and attract a lot of visitors around the world.
QUTAB-MINAR: Study the Indo-Islamic architecture. This amazing brick minaret is one of the best examples of the Indo-Islamic architecture. It is a tower of five storeys, and has a spiral staircase. Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque, Iron pillar are the other historically important monuments of the complex.
AGRA FORT: The beautiful structure is another master piece of the Moghul period. It was built by Akbar with red sandstone Later many splendid palaces and other additions were done by Shah Jahan and his successors. The finger print of Shah Jahan can be seen in the use of white marble in the construction of the palaces.
TAJ MAHAL: It is regarded as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India`s rich history. The perfection of proportions and grandeur of Geometrical patterns of well-appointed gardens and fountains can be seen here, making it architectural wonder of the world. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built this beautiful structure to house the tomb of his wife, later he was also buried beside her.
