HIGHLIGHTED CORE LEARNING:

On this tour, we will embark on a journey of exploring & experiencing the local way of life in rural communities around the UNESCO world heritage site. There are around 29 village settlements within the protected core zone and people living in these communities are an essential part of the cultural heritage of Hampi. The traditions, festivals, social life of people here is deeply intertwined with their shared heritage and the landscape. This is why Hampi is often referred to as a living heritage site. On this tour we will get a glimpse into lives of people from these communities, understand how they contribute to the richness of the cultural heritage of this site.

ADD ON LEARNING EXPERIENCE:

THE VITTALA TEMPLE: Understand The temple exemplifies the immense creativity and architectural excellence possessed by the sculptors and artisans of the Vijayanagara era. And study the Dravidian style of architecture. It has traits and features that are characteristic of typical south Indian temple architecture.

RAYA’S TRAIL – EDUCATIONAL SCAVENGER HUNT ACTIVITY [HANDS-ON]: This is our endeavor at making heritage fun!  Inspired by the American television show titled “The Amazing Race”. Participant will have to put their problem solving skills and information gathered earlier during the day to solve series of puzzles and tasks correctly to win. Participants will be divided into teams and will compete against each other to win.

ROYAL URBAN CORE & MONOLITHS: we will be focusing our attention to the social and political life of the grand medieval city of Vijayanagara. As we explore the urban core. Here we find military, residential and administrative structures. There are basements of palaces, festival platforms, step well tanks, private baths, aqueducts, royal temples and several other interesting structures to learn from.
