  • Students will be able to identify and describe general knowledge regarding different animals that live at the zoo.
  • There is nothing better than an actual elephant to teach the concept of elephantine’s. What is big? What is a trunk? What is an elephant? That can all be taught instantly by viewing a living, breathing elephant. No video, no Web site, no book can do that as effectively. So, the best thing to do, for teachers interested in teaching about elephants, is to hop on your school’s plane and head off to BANNERGHATTA NATIONAL PARK. Make sure you don’t leave any child behind.
  • This exposure to real-world examples has become essential as today’s students spend more and more time in front of a screen, so take your students out and enjoy the day with real world.
  • Get your students engaged by asking them a "hook" question before entering the zoo. An example is: How do you get your food? Chances are that most students will answer with "From Mom and Dad" or "From the supermarket."
  • Tell the class that zoo animals, animals that can be found both in zoos and in the wild, get their food in similar ways. Baby animals get their food from their parents, while parents have to find food.
  • Explain to the students that they'll be observing animals in their habitats in order to discover the animals' diets and eating habits. Let them know that they can record as many observations as they like.
  • During the field trip, take the pictures of each animal and later discuss with students in class.
  • Animal and Environmental Studies and Learning biological names of animals
