    Role Type: Freelance / Part-Time / On-Assignment
    Location: On-tour (Bangalore, Coorg, Mysore, Bandipur, Ooty, etc.)
    Travel Required: Yes
    Reporting To: Program Coordinator / Tour Operations Manager

    ROLE OVERVIEW

    The Experiential Learning Facilitator is responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences for school groups during educational tours. The facilitator connects tour activities with specific learning objectives, IB transdisciplinary themes, ATL skills, and curriculum links, ensuring that students gain meaningful, age-appropriate learning while maintaining safety and enthusiasm.

    The ideal candidate loves working with children, understands outdoor or cultural learning contexts, and uses questions—not lectures—to spark curiosity.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Deliver Inquiry-Based Learning Sessions

    • Guide students through field activities using questions, prompts, and discussions.
    • Support curriculum goals (PYP/MYP/CBSE/ICSE) by connecting activities to learning outcomes.
    • Lead interpretation sessions (nature, wildlife, cultural experiences, science modules).

    2. Facilitate Learning at All Tour Sites

    • Tibetan Colony: cultural interpretation, identity, community systems
    • Nisargadhama: ecology, flora/fauna, river ecosystems
    • Dubare: animal behaviour, conservation ethics
    • Bandipur: wildlife tracking, adaptations, ecosystem balance

    3. Manage Student Groups Effectively

    • Engage mixed-ability learners
    • Encourage participation from quiet/shy students
    • Divide children into meaningful activity groups
    • Maintain discipline in a positive, respectful manner

    4. Student Safety, Responsibility & Ethics

    • Enforce safety protocols during safaris, nature trails, and cultural visits
    • Set expectations for respectful behaviour toward wildlife and communities
    • Model environmentally responsible actions
    • Report incidents immediately to the Tour Leader

    5. Conduct Reflection & Documentation

    • Lead reflections after major activities (journaling, sharing circles, Q&A)
    • Support students in completing worksheets, observation charts, ATL tasks
    • Provide a brief learning summary to the school after the tour

    6. Collaborate with Teachers & Tour Team

    • Align learning goals before the tour
    • Coordinate timing with Tour Manager
    • Adapt facilitation style to teacher feedback and student needs

    REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

    A. Facilitation Skills

    • Strong inquiry-based teaching style
    • Ability to explain concepts through stories, analogies, examples
    • Classroom/field management skills
    • Excellent communication (English mandatory; regional languages a plus)

    B. Subject Knowledge (any of the following)

    • Environmental Science / Wildlife Biology
    • Social Sciences / Anthropology / History
    • Psychology / Child Development
    • Outdoor Education / Experiential Learning
    • Art & Culture Interpretation

    C. Behavioral Skills

    • Patience, empathy, and child-friendly communication
    • Confident speaking to groups of 20–40 students
    • Problem-solving under field conditions
    • High energy, enthusiastic, team-oriented

    D. Safety Skills

    • Basic First Aid / CPR training (preferred)
    • Ability to identify risks in outdoor environments
    • Calm and composed under pressure

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any field
    • Experience working with students (camps, workshops, teaching, mentoring)
    • Experience in facilitation, training, or guiding groups

    Preferred:

    • Degree/diploma in education, environmental science, psychology, social sciences
    • IB/PYP/MYP training or experience working in IB schools
    • Experience with outdoor learning platforms (Youreka, Inme, WWF, JLR naturalist programs)
    • Certifications in nature interpretation or wildlife education
