Theme: Roots, Rhythm & Craft – Exploring India’s Folk Culture & Toys
Programme Type: Educational + Cultural + Hands-On Creative Learning
Venue: Janapada Loka – Folk Culture Museum + Traditional Toy-Making Unit
Where Stories Come Alive, Traditions Speak, and Creativity Takes Shape in Tiny Hands.
What if children could step into a world where every tool tells a story,
every puppet carries a personality,
every rhythm echoes a community’s heartbeat—
and every toy is a piece of India’s living heritage?
This thoughtfully curated programme transports Grade 4–5 learners into the vibrant world of Janapada Loka and Channapatna’s traditional toy-making craft—two cultural treasures that turn history, art, and heritage into a joyful, sensory-rich learning journey.
Here, students don’t just see culture—they walk through it, touch it, imagine it, and create with it.
The experience begins at Janapada Loka, where rural Karnataka unfolds like a storybook:
Every gallery becomes a doorway into a new world—
a world filled with colours, sounds, beliefs, stories and traditions that shaped generations.
Students sketch, observe, interpret, and reflect—connecting social science, EVS, and art in the most natural and enjoyable way.
Post lunch, learners enter the magical universe of Channapatna toys—a craft so unique it carries India’s prestigious GI tag.
Inside a real artisan unit, students witness:
They see how a simple piece of wood transforms into a colourful toy—and suddenly realise that craftsmanship is a blend of skill, patience, tradition, and love.
The highlight?
A hands-on toy decoration activity where every child becomes a young artisan, bringing home a piece of heritage they helped create.
It blends culture + creativity + experiential learning in a way few school programmes do.
The carefully designed Pre-Tour → On-Tour → Post-Tour cycle ensures meaningful engagement and deep learning.
Students experience:
This programme transforms history and art into something children can see, touch, feel, question, celebrate, and remember forever.
