Big Idea: “Ecosystems consist of interconnected elements, and human choices influence their balance and sustainability.”

Transdisciplinary Theme: Sharing the Planet – Biodiversity, Balance, and Conservation

Age Group: PYP 4
Duration: 1 Night / 2 Days
Venue: Bandipur
Learning Style: Experiential • Inquiry-driven • Research-based • Reflective • Collaborative

Includes: Pre-Tour Inquiry • On-Tour Learning Experiences • Post-Tour Deep Reflection

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Bandipur experiential programme enables students to explore ecosystems, adaptations, interdependence and conservation through real-world exposure, guided inquiry, scientific observation and reflective learning. Students engage in nature trails, ecosystem modelling, ranger interactions, safari observations and inquiry discussions to understand how ecosystems function, why balance matters, and how human actions influence sustainability.

LEARNING GOALS

Students will:

  • investigate ecosystem structure and species interactions

  • analyse adaptations and survival strategies

  • compare natural and human influences on environments

  • explore conservation challenges and propose solutions

  • use scientific tools to collect, record and interpret data

  • demonstrate responsible behaviour in natural habitats

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Knowledge:
Students understand the roles of producers, consumers and decomposers, identify structural and behavioral adaptations, explain human–wildlife conflict, and describe how energy flows within food webs.

Skills:
Students develop strong field-note observation skills, interpret data and build models, ask meaningful inquiry questions, and communicate collaboratively during learning tasks.

Attitudes / Agency:
Students demonstrate empathy and respect for wildlife, confidently share ideas, take ownership toward conservation responsibility, and engage in curiosity-driven inquiry.
