Venue: Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath
Program Type: Half-Day Experiential Learning Program
Age Group: Cambridge Primary Stage 1 (5–6 years)
Duration: Half-Day Museum Exploration
Focus: Exploring how artists use colour, shape, puppets, and shadows to communicate stories
“Stories in Colour” transforms the museum into a visual storytelling space. Students follow colour clues in paintings, observe expressions in leather puppets, and investigate shadows in the courtyard. Through guided observation and simple creative responses, they explore how stories can be expressed visually without words.
• Observing and describing artworks
• Identifying colour, line, and shape
• Expressing ideas through drawing and simple performance
• Developing confidence in responding to art
AO1: Exploring Ideas – Students identify colours, shapes, and visual details.
AO2: Developing Skills – Students sketch observed elements and create shadow forms.
AO3: Responding to Art – Students describe what they see and share interpretations.
AO4: Presenting Ideas – Students communicate ideas through drawing and short performance.
Students will recognise visual storytelling elements, observe expressive details, understand how light creates shadows, and respond creatively through drawing and verbal expression.
Students identify one colour clue, one puppet expression, and one shadow shape; sketch a selected detail; participate in a short puppet moment; and demonstrate respectful gallery behaviour.
