Assessment Objectives

AO1 – Knowledge & Understanding
Identify simple features of rural communities, including homes, occupations, transport, tools, and food systems, and recall key observations made during the visit.

AO2 – Observation & Simple Reasoning
Notice similarities and differences between rural and urban settings, recognise cause-and-effect relationships in basic systems, and explain simple comparisons using clear examples.

AO3 – Participation & Application
Demonstrate cooperation, follow rules, take turns, and participate responsibly in group tasks, games, and structured rotations.

AO4 – Communication & Reflection
Express learning through short spoken explanations, simple written sentences, labelled drawings, and structured reflections about teamwork and community systems.


Program Overview

“A Walk Through Time” transforms the Model Village into a structured heritage learning experience. Students explore traditional homes, tools, games, and transport systems to understand how communities lived in earlier times. Through observation, questioning, drawing, and discussion, students compare village life with their own daily lives.

• Recognise common tools and explain their use
• Observe traditional transport systems
• Participate in cooperative traditional games
• Compare village life and city life
• Express learning through drawing and discussion


Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the program, students will:

• Name at least one feature of a mud house
• Identify one tool and describe its function
• Describe how people travelled before modern vehicles
• Complete a structured mission card
• Verbally explain one difference between village and city life
