Subject Focus: Cambridge IGCSE History & Geography

Venue: Model Village @ Rangoli Gardens
Programme Type: Full-Day Historical & Settlement Field Investigation
Age Group: 15–16 years

Programme Overview

This full-day field investigation uses the Model Village as a structured historical and geographical case study to examine how rural life has evolved over time. The visit is designed as an analytical enquiry rather than a cultural exposure activity. Students treat the village environment as historical evidence and apply structured reasoning to understand continuity, change, causation and consequence.

The investigation focuses on how rural communities were organised in the past and how technological, economic and social developments reshaped settlement patterns, occupations and standards of living. Students analyse housing materials, agricultural tools, transport systems, labour structures and community organisation to evaluate the extent to which change has improved or transformed rural life.

The academic emphasis is on:

• Continuity and change over time
• Cause and consequence
• Comparative analysis
• Use of physical evidence
• Balanced evaluative judgement

Students are required to move beyond description and demonstrate developed explanations supported by field evidence.
