INTRODUCTION TO THE PROGRAM: This experiential learning visit offers students a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of agricultural sciences with a focus on horticulture, apiculture, and entomology. The program is designed to provide hands-on knowledge and practical exposure to plant cultivation, bee-keeping, and insect biodiversity

OBJECTIVE: To enrich students' understanding of agricultural science practices, instill awareness of sustainable farming, and foster curiosity about nature and ecology through interactive learning.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: Students will visit the GKVK Agricultural Science Centre, where they will engage with experts and observe live horticultural activities, learn the processes of bee-keeping and honey extraction, and study various insects' roles in agriculture.

08:00 AM – Departure from School: Departure from School/College (after having breakfast at home).

10:15 AM – Arrival at GKVK Agricultural Science Centre.

10:15 AM To 12:00 PM – Educational sessions on:

Horticulture (Types of plants, maintenance)

  • Learning Focus- Plant classification, observation, and basic maintenance.
  • Activity: Students explore different plants, identify types (herbs, shrubs, trees), and note their care needs.
  • What to Carry: Notebook & pencil/pen.

Apiculture (Bee-keeping, honey extraction, maintenance)

  • Learning Focus- Bee life cycle, teamwork in nature, importance of pollinators.
  • Activity: Watch a safe bee enclosure or video to learn about bee roles and honey extraction process. Later, students sketch bee anatomy or hive structure.
  • What to Carry: Notebook & colored pencils.

Entomology (Types of insects and their roles)

  • Learning Focus- Insect diversity, ecological roles, and communication skills.
  • Activity: Students choose an insect, learn its role (pollinator, decomposer, predator), and act it out for the group.

01:30 PM – Quiz Competition (based on the visit) – Prizes for winners: A fun-filled quiz competition will be held after the visit, testing students’ knowledge with exciting questions—winners were thrilled to receive prizes for their brilliance!

02:00 PM – Departure to SCHOOL/COLLEGE: After a fun-filled and educational day, students head back to school.

02:30 PM – Arrival at SCHOOL/COLLEGE: Return with joyful memories, a head full of knowledge, and stories to tell.

NB: Please note that we will only take group photographs, which will be verified by our backend team before uploading and could be viewed only by school & parents by using a secure code. A copy of the group photographs will also be shared with the school as a memento.
