Fly from Bangalore to Paro, Bhutan, and transfer to Thimphu. After checking in to your hotel, relax and explore the city. Visit key attractions in Thimphu, including the National Memorial Chorten, Tashichho Dzong, Buddha Point, Changangkha Lhakhang, and the Motithang Takin Preserve. Also explore Drubthob Goema, the Institute for Zorig Chusum, and the National Textile Museum.

Next, travel to Paro, visiting Tamchog Lhakhang temple along the way. In Paro, visit the Ta Dzong (National Museum) and Rinpung Dzong, and enjoy free time for shopping.

DAY 02: THIMPHU

 

Proceed to Full Day Thimphu Sightseeing

The National Memorial Chorten, built in 1974, honors Bhutan's third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, the Father of modern Bhutan. Inside, paintings and statues showcase Buddhist philosophy.

Tashichho Dzong, a fortress built in 1641 and rebuilt in 1965, houses the throne room and National Assembly Hall. In summer, the monk body, led by the Je Khenpo, resides here.

Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), just outside Thimphu, offers views of the valley and Bhutan’s largest Buddha statue.

Changangkha Lhakhang, a 12th-century temple, offers stunning views of Thimphu and features a statue of Chenrezig with 11 heads.

The Motithang Takin Preserve is a wildlife reserve for Bhutan's national animal, the takin.

Drubthob Goema, or Zilukha Nunnery, overlooks Trashichhoedzong and offers insights into Buddhist spirituality.

The Institute for Zorig Chusum trains students in Bhutanese arts, while the National Textile Museum showcases Bhutan's rich textile heritage.

Transfer from Thimphu to Paro & Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast proceed to Paro enroute visiting Tamchog Lhakhang.

Tamchog lhakhang is temple that is dedicated to the 13th century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, the bridge builder. This temple is located across the river from the Paro to Thimphu. In order to get to the temple one must cross an iron chain bridge, one of the few remaining of the many that Thangthong Gyalpo built.

Proceed for Paro sightseeing visiting:

Ta Dzong is a onetime watch tower built to defend Rinpung Dozng during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, since 1967 Ta Dzong is serving as the National Museum of the country. It holds fascinating collection of art, relics, religious thangkha paintings and Bhutan's exquisite postage stamps. The museum circular shape augments its varied collection displayed over several floors.

Rinpung Dzong was Built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal , the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan, the Dzong houses the monastic body of Paro, the office of the Dzongda (district administrative head) and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district. The approach to the Dzong is through a traditional covered bridge called Nemi Zam. A walk through the bridge, over a stone inlaid path, offers a good view of the architectural wonder of the Dzong as well as life around it. It is also the venue of Paro Tshechu, held once a year in the spring.
