INTRODUCTION TO THE PROGRAM: This one-day experiential learning programme is designed to help students discover Karnataka’s living heritage through the intersection of technology, traditional craftsmanship, transportation, folk culture, and indigenous knowledge. The journey takes students through Payana Car Museum, a Channapatna traditional toy-making unit, and Janapada Loka, creating meaningful connections between classroom concepts and real-world cultural experiences.

OBJECTIVE: To enable students to understand how technology, traditional skills, craftsmanship, culture and community knowledge have evolved over time. The programme encourages observation, interaction, inquiry and reflection while helping students appreciate Karnataka’s cultural heritage and the importance of preserving traditional knowledge.

WHY IT MATTERS: Heritage is not limited to monuments and historical buildings — it also lives through people, skills, crafts, stories, objects and traditions. By observing automobiles, interacting with artisans and exploring folk traditions, students understand how communities preserve knowledge while adapting to changing technologies and lifestyles.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: Students explore three distinct dimensions of Karnataka’s heritage:

• Payana Car Museum: Discover the evolution of transportation, automobile design, engineering and technology through vintage and historic vehicles.
• Channapatna Toy-Making Unit: Observe the transformation of raw wood into traditional toys while learning about craftsmanship, manufacturing processes and artisan livelihoods.
• Janapada Loka: Explore Karnataka’s folk traditions through artefacts, costumes, masks, puppets, musical instruments, crafts and rural-life exhibits.

LEARNING TAKEAWAY: Students return with the ability to:

• Understand how transportation and automobile technology have evolved.

04:45 AM – Reporting at School: Students assemble with excitement, ready to begin their historical journey. They board the private coach, eager for the day ahead.

05:00 AM – Departure from School: Students assemble at school and begin their experiential learning journey towards Ramanagara–Channapatna. The day begins with an exploration of how technology, traditional skills and culture have shaped Karnataka.

07:00 AM – Breakfast En Route: Enjoy a fresh and wholesome breakfast en route, followed by a short refreshment break before continuing the journey.

08:30 AM – Proceed to Payana Car Museum: Continue towards Payana Car Museum, preparing students to explore the evolution of transportation and automobile technology.

09:00 AM – Visit Payana Car Museum: Explore a curated collection of vintage and historic automobiles.

10:00 AM – Depart for Channapatna Toy-Making Unit: Proceed towards Channapatna, a region recognised for its traditional wooden toy-making heritage.

11:00 AM – Visit Channapatna Toy-Making Unit: Step into the world of traditional craftsmanship and discover how raw wood is transformed into colourful finished products. Students observe the different stages of production, including wood selection, shaping, turning, colouring, lacquering and finishing, while interacting with artisans and understanding skills passed down through generations.

12:30 PM – Proceed to Janapada Loka: Continue towards Janapada Loka, a cultural centre dedicated to preserving and showcasing Karnataka’s rich folk traditions.

01:00 PM – Lunch: Enjoy a wholesome lunch at a pre-arranged venue, followed by a short relaxation break.

02:00 PM – Explore Janapada Loka: Discover Karnataka’s cultural heritage through folk artefacts, traditional costumes, masks, puppets, musical instruments, crafts and rural-life exhibits.

Students explore how communities express their identity through folk art, music, storytelling, occupations, festivals and traditional practices. The experience also encourages them to understand the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge for future generations.

03:30 PM – Departure for School: Begin the return journey with a short reflection activity. Students discuss one new thing they learned about technology, traditional craftsmanship and Karnataka’s cultural heritage.

05:00 PM – Arrival Back at School: Arrive back at school, concluding a day of exploration connecting modern technology, traditional craftsmanship and living cultural heritage.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of this programme, students will be able to:

• Explain how transportation and automobile technology have evolved.
• Describe the basic stages of traditional Channapatna toy-making.
• Recognise the contribution of artisans and local communities to cultural heritage.
• Identify different forms of Karnataka’s folk art and cultural expression.
• Explain why indigenous knowledge and traditional practices need to be preserved.
• Connect technology, craftsmanship, community and culture through real-world observation.

STEP 3: Once the list of registered students is finalized will be sharing a revised final itinerary for the programmes.

STEP 4: Sharing required documents for the programme & collecting from the school tour coordinator {in school letter head}.

To ensure a secure and informative experience for the parents, we offer "Track My Tour" facility, which allows the parents to view photos, videos and live bus tracking of the children during the trip.

NB: Please note that we will only take group photographs, which will be verified by our backend team before uploading and could be viewed only by school & parents by using a secure code. A copy of the group photographs will also be shared with the school as a memento.
