OUR PHILOSOPHY
OUR LEARNING FRAMEWORK
At Crazy Holidays, we believe learning happens best when students experience, reflect, and apply.
We don’t organize trips. We design curriculum-connected learning journeys that build:
HOW WE DELIVER OUTCOMES

DAY 01: READING THE LANDSCAPE
From Geological Time to the Geography of Civilisation
Before understanding the stories of people, we must first learn to read the land they inhabited.
05:00 AM – Departure from School.
“Every great discovery begins with a question. Today, the landscape itself becomes the answer.”
The expedition begins before sunrise as students depart Bengaluru, embarking on a journey that will connect classroom concepts with real-world environments.
As the city gradually gives way to the open countryside, students begin observing the changing terrain, setting the stage for a journey through geological history and the evolution of human settlements.
07:30 AM – Breakfast En Route
08:15 AM – Proceed Towards Belum Caves
12:30 PM – Lunch En Route
02:00 PM – Visit Belum Caves - The Geology Field Lab
“Beneath the surface lies a record of time, written not in words, but in stone.”
Step into the fascinating underground world of Belum Caves, where nature's slow and persistent forces have sculpted an extraordinary subterranean environment.
The cave exploration becomes an opportunity to observe the traces of geological processes and understand the relationship between water, rock and the formation of underground landscapes.
Students discover the evidence of water movement and erosion, observe rock textures and formations, and consider the immense geological timescales behind the creation of these natural structures.
The Naturalist brings these observations together, encouraging students to connect what they see with the geological processes that continually reshape the Earth's surface.
03:30 PM – Depart Belum Caves for Gandikota
05:00 PM – Explore the Pennar Gorge - A Landscape That Tells a Story
“Where the river carves the Earth, the landscape reveals the extraordinary power of nature.”
The first encounter with the dramatic Pennar Gorge offers a striking view of the natural environment surrounding Gandikota.
The vast rocky terrain, imposing gorge and sweeping river landscape create a memorable setting for understanding the relationship between physical geography and human settlement.
Students take in the landscape through a period of quiet observation, recording what captures their attention, identifying the natural advantages of the location and considering the challenges that such an environment may present to its inhabitants.
The experience opens a window into the geographical significance of Gandikota and prepares students for the historical discoveries that follow.
06:00 PM – Arrival and Check-in at the Campsite
07:00 PM – Why Here? | Geography Becomes Strategy
“A natural landscape can become a powerful advantage when human ingenuity learns to work with it.”
What makes a location suitable for a fortified settlement?
Through a guided group exploration, students examine how Gandikota's rocky terrain, elevation, gorge and natural visibility could have offered strategic advantages to the people who established settlements here.
The session brings geography and history together, revealing how the physical characteristics of a landscape can influence decisions about settlement, security and defence.
08:00 PM – Dinner
08:45 PM – The Gandikota Story - From Landscape to Power
“Behind every historic fort lies a story of ambition, adaptation and the power of place.”
As the day draws to a close, students are introduced to the historical evolution of Gandikota and its importance across different periods.
Through an engaging storytelling session, the dramatic landscape experienced earlier becomes the backdrop for understanding the rise of settlements, the significance of territorial control and the relationship between geography and political power.
The session brings together the day's discoveries, connecting natural formations with the historical decisions and human stories that shaped the region.
09:30 PM – Overnight Stay at the Campsite

DAY 02: THE STORYTELLING TRAIL
Discovering the Architecture, Heritage and Ingenuity of a Civilisation
“History is not confined to textbooks. It lives in the places, structures and stories that have survived through time.”
06:00 AM – Wake-up and Freshen Up
06:30 AM – Guided Nature Walk and Trek - Before the Fort, There Was the Land
“Walk through a landscape untouched by the boundaries of history, and imagine the world before civilisation left its mark.”
As the first light touches the rocky terrain, students set out on a guided nature walk and trek through the surroundings of Gandikota.
The morning offers a different perspective of the landscape, encouraging students to imagine what the region might have looked like before its historic structures and settlements came into existence.
The walk culminates at a suitable viewpoint overlooking the Gandikota landscape, where the scale and natural character of the terrain provide a memorable beginning to the day.
07:30 AM – Breakfast at the Campsite
09:00 AM – The Gandikota Storytelling Trail - A Journey Through Living Heritage
“Every monument is a chapter. Every surviving structure is a voice from another age.”
The storytelling trail takes students through the historic landmarks of Gandikota, revealing the architectural, cultural and practical dimensions of a historic fortified settlement.
CHAPTER 01: THE FORT GATE — THE STORY OF POWER
“An entrance is more than a passage. It is a statement of authority, protection and the world that lies beyond.”
The journey begins at the historic fort entrance, where the monumental gateway introduces students to the defensive character and architectural presence of Gandikota.
The fort gate becomes the opening chapter in understanding how fortified settlements controlled access, protected communities and expressed the power of those who ruled them.
CHAPTER 02: MADHAVARAYA TEMPLE — WHEN STONE BEGINS TO SPEAK
“Carved into stone, the imagination of an era continues to live across centuries.”
The Madhavaraya Temple offers a glimpse into the artistic traditions, architectural sensibilities and religious heritage of the region.
Its stonework and architectural features invite students to appreciate the craftsmanship of an earlier age and discover how temple architecture reflects the cultural identity and creative achievements of its time.
CHAPTER 03: JAMA MASJID — WHEN HISTORY CHANGES, BUT THE LANDSCAPE REMAINS
“Different eras leave different imprints, creating a heritage that speaks across cultures and generations.”
The historic Jama Masjid introduces another architectural and cultural chapter in Gandikota's story.
Through its presence within the fort landscape, students encounter the region's diverse historical influences and gain a broader appreciation of how different communities and traditions have contributed to the heritage of a place.
CHAPTER 04: THE GRANARY — THE FORT MUST EAT
“Behind every thriving settlement lies a practical story of survival, planning and resource management.”
The granary reveals a less celebrated but essential dimension of historic settlements: the importance of food security and resource planning.
Students explore the role of storage facilities within fortified communities and consider how food management, preparation for uncertainty and the organisation of essential supplies contributed to the sustainability of life within a fort.
CHAPTER 05: KATHULA KONERU — THE STORY OF WATER
“Where water is understood and preserved, communities find the means to endure.”
Water has always played a defining role in the development of human settlements.
At Kathula Koneru, students encounter another important dimension of Gandikota's historic landscape and explore the significance of water management in sustaining life within a fortified settlement.
The experience connects the natural availability of water with the practical ingenuity required to collect, manage and preserve this essential resource.
CHAPTER 06: RAGHUNATHA SWAMY TEMPLE — BECOMING HERITAGE DETECTIVES
“Heritage is not simply what survives. It is what we learn to recognise, interpret and preserve.”
The Raghunatha Swamy Temple offers another opportunity to discover the architectural and cultural richness of Gandikota.
Students explore the historic environment through close observation, looking beyond the visible structures to appreciate the craftsmanship, cultural expressions and historical significance embedded in the site.
The experience encourages a deeper understanding of heritage as a valuable connection between past generations and the present.
THE FINAL CHAPTER: FROM ROCK TO CIVILISATION
“From the forces of nature to the achievements of humanity, every chapter of Gandikota tells a connected story.”
As the storytelling trail concludes, the different discoveries of the expedition come together in one larger narrative.
The gorge, the fortifications, the temples, the historic structures and the water systems are no longer isolated attractions. Together, they reveal how geography, natural resources, human ingenuity and cultural traditions have shaped the development of civilisation.
The trail offers a fitting conclusion to a journey that began with the geological history of the Earth and progressed towards the human stories written across its landscapes.
12:30 PM – Lunch
01:30 PM – Departure from Gandikota to Bengaluru
04:30 PM – Evening Snacks and Juice En Route
07:30 PM – Dinner En Route
09:00 PM – Arrival at Bengaluru
“The expedition ends. The questions, discoveries and learning continue.”
Students return to school after an immersive journey through geological wonders, dramatic landscapes and the enduring heritage of Gandikota.
